First Aid including CPR – 24th February 2015
Course Description:
To celebrate National Heart Month, Fairway Training (Healthcare) are putting on a First Aid including CPR course. This is course that is designed for all staff working in the care sector. It is designed so that learners are given the under-pinning knowledge and practical skills to manage an emergency situation.
The programme complies with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Resuscitation Council (UK) Guidelines 2005. The course is particularly useful to provide base knowledge for new care staff or those wanting to progress to the fully accredited 3 day qualification or as a refresher for those that hold the 3 day qualification.
Course Outline:
Responsibilities
Arrival at scene / Dealing with casualties / Cleaning up process / Communication with casualty / Call for help if needed / Infection control / Consent / Completing accident forms / First Aid equipment
Primary Assessment
Danger / Response / Airway / Breathing / Chain of survival
Priorities of Treatment
Breathing / Bleeding / Bones / Burns / Other conditions
Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
Casualty not breathing normally / CPR procedures & guidelines / Principles of resuscitation
Signs, Symptoms & Treatment
Choking / Asthma / Wounds (major/minor) / Heart Attack – Angina / Shock / Epilepsy / Burns / Splinters
Course Duration: 3hrs
Session 1: 9.30am-12.30pm
Session 2: 13.00pm-16.00pm
