Fairway Apprentice Shortlisted for Asian Apprenticeship Awards
Fairway Training (Healthcare) Ltd and their shining Apprentices, Naheed Akhtar was shortlisted as a finalist for the Health, Medical and Social Care Apprentice of the Year Award at the Asian Apprenticeship Awards.
Naheed was unemployed and with the support of her husband and family she decided to enrol on to the ‘My Care Portfolio’ pre-employment programme, a four week training course with Fairway Training. Fairway Training is a champion for the unemployed and believes in investing in people and have a commitment to employability programmes which moves candidates into sustainable employment opportunities. Naheed continued her chosen career in Care and started her apprenticeship in January 2018.
Naheed quotes the reason’s she chose to start an apprenticeship in the Care sector “I really enjoyed going to work with the elderly residents. I wanted to make a change to their lives by helping them and learn the correct and professional way to work with them. I enjoy building relationships with other staff and make sure I praise them at the end of every shift. My personal ambitions were finally realised.”
The Asian Apprenticeship team believe that Apprenticeships deliver not only for individuals and businesses, they’re also essential to the economy. It’s their belief that people in apprenticeships and the employers who provide them with opportunities should be both recognised and celebrated. The Asian Apprenticeship Awards aim to support the Government to increase the proportion of apprenticeships taken up by people from BME backgrounds by 20%.
The Asian Apprenticeship Awards aims to showcase the range of talent and hard work within the BME group which will be made possible with the contribution of employers and learning providers who share the same beliefs.
