Autism Awareness training for parents & families – 2nd April 2014
To celebrate National Autism Awareness Month, Fairway Training are offering parents and families the opportunity of Autism Awareness Training with our lead trainer Mark Howe-Senior. This half day course is suitable for parents and families of children who have had a diagnosis of ASD – Autistic Spectrum Disorder including Asperger’s Syndrome.
For us, Autism Training is so much more; it’s not just about helping people understand the most modern and relevant research into the field; it’s about changing attitudes. We know that massive improvements are possible in people’s lives and we promote this throughout our training. We don’t simply repeat the mantra of “routine, routine, routine,” we embrace developmental steps that can alter the course of a person’s life. Our training is based on the most recent research in Autism and is a must for all parents and families.
The course will be run by Mark Howe-Senior our lead trainer at Fairway Training. Mark has expert knowledge in Children’s Care and Children’s Services. Mark has worked within the Health and Social Care sector for almost 15 years, having commenced his career in the sector in 1999. Mark has worked in various roles such as a Senior Carer, Activity Co-ordinator and Trainer. Mark has also worked in Adult Services, Mental Health, Learning Disability and has managed and ran a Learning Support Unit (Education Dept).

Course Outline:
The aim of this module is to provide a better awareness of the term “Autism” and “Autistic spectrum disorder” (ASD)
• Define Autism
• Myths and facts
• Understand the difference between Autism and Asperger’s syndrome
• Explain the gender differences
• Identify conditions related to ASD
Course Duration:
Session 1: 10.00am – 1.00pm
Session 2: 2.00pm – 5.00pm
